2 Peter 1

1 Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who were allotted an equally precious faith with us, in the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: 2 may grace and peace be multiplied to you* in the full knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. 3 As his divine* power has been bestowed to us as a gift, (all things pertaining to life and godliness*), through the full knowledge of the one who called us through glory and virtue; 4 through which he has bestowed to us as a gift, the precious and greatest promises; in order that you* might become partners of the divine* nature through these things, having fled away from the corruption in the world among its lust.
5 Now also for this same thing, besides having brought in all diligence, supply* in your* faith, virtue, and in your* virtue, knowledge 6 and in your* knowledge, self-control, and in your* self-control, endurance, and in your* endurance, godliness*; 7 and in your* godliness*, brotherly-love, and in your* brotherly-love, love*. 8 For* if these things are existing and increasing in you*, none will designate you* idle or unfruitful toward the full knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For* the one is blind in whom these things are not present*, being short-sighted, having taken on himself the forgetfulness of {i.e. deliberately forgot} the cleansing from his old sins. 10 Hence brethren, be* more diligent to make* your* calling and choice steadfast; for*, you* may never* trip someday while practicing these things; 11 for* so the entrance into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be richly supplied to you*.
12 Hence, I will habitually not be neglecting to remind you* concerning these things, although you* know them and are established in the present* truth. 13 But I am deeming it righteous, inasmuch as I am in this tabernacle, to arouse you* with a reminder; 14 knowing that the removal of my tabernacle is coming quickly, just-as our Lord Jesus Christ indicated to me. 15 But I will also be diligent, each-time, to have you* in remembrance of these things, to practice them after my exodus. 16 For* we did not follow wisely devised fables, when we made known to you* the power and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, but in that, we became eyewitnesses of that majesty. 17 For* having received honor and glory from God the Father, when such a voice was carried to him by the Majestic Glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am delighted. 18 And we heard this voice, having been carried from heaven, being together with him in the holy mountain. 19 And we have the steadfast prophetic word, (as to a lamp appearing in a dreary place, until the day should dawn and the {F} morning-star might rise), to which you* are doing well, and taking-heed in your* hearts. 20 Knowing this first, that every prophecy of Scripture does not come* from one's own interpretation. 21 For* no prophecy was ever brought about by the will of man, but the holy men of God spoke the word being carried by the Holy Spirit. {Footnotes: 2Pe 1:19, or: Venus; literally: 'light-bearer'; metaphorically Jesus.}
