John 13

1 Now before the feast of the Passover, Jesus knowing that his hour has come in order that he should go-away out of this world to his Father; having loved* his own who were in the world, he loved* them to the end. 2 And it happened during supper, the devil had already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, in order that he should give him up. 3 Jesus, knowing that the Father has given all the things into his hands and that he came forth from God and is going to God, 4 arose from supper and places aside his garments, and he took a towel and girded himself. 5 Thereafter he puts water into the washbasin and began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel in which he was girded.
6 Therefore, he comes to Simon Peter and that man says to him, Lord, why are you washing my feet? 7 Jesus answered and said to him, What I do you do not know now, but you will know after these things.
8 Peter says to him, Never* wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I do not wash you, you have no part with me. 9 Simon Peter says to him, Lord, not only my feet, but also the hands and the head.
10 Jesus says to him, He who has been fully-washed does not need to wash himself, other than the feet, but is entirely clean and you* are clean, but not all. 11 (For* he knew the one who is giving him up.) Because of this, he said, You* are not all clean. 12 Therefore, when he had washed their feet and had taken up his garments, having leaned-back again, he said to them, Do you* know what I have done for you*? 13 You* address me as the Teacher and, Lord, and you* say well; for* so I am. 14 Therefore, if I, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your* feet, you* also ought to wash one another's feet. 15 For* I gave you* an example, in order that you* should also do like I did for you*. 16 Assuredly, assuredly, I am saying to you*, A bondservant is not greater than his lord; nor is an apostle greater than he who sent him. 17 If you* know these things, you* are fortunate if you* practice them. 18 I do not speak concerning all of you*. I know whom I have chosen, but in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled, 'He who eats bread with me, lifted up his heel against me. ' {Psa 41:9} 19 From now on I tell you* before it is to happen, in order that, whenever it happens, you* may believe that I am he. 20 Assuredly, assuredly, I am saying to you*, He who receives anyone, whomever I send, receives me, and he who receives me receives the one who sent me. {Mat 26:21-25, 26:31-35 & Mar 14:18-21, 14:27-31 & Luk 22:21-23, 22:31-38 & Joh 13:21-38.} 21 Jesus having said these things, was disturbed in the spirit and testified and said, Assuredly, assuredly, I am saying to you*, that one out of you* will be giving me up.
22 Therefore the disciples were looking toward one another, being perplexed concerning whom he is speaking about. 23 But one of his disciples was reclining on Jesus' bosom, the one whom Jesus loved*. 24 Therefore, Simon Peter signals to him to inquire, who it might be, concerning whom he is speaking about. 25 But that man who had leaned upon Jesus' chest says to him, Lord, who is it? 26 Jesus answers, It is that man to whom I dipped the morsel, and I will be giving it to him. And having dipped the morsel, he takes and gives it to Judas Iscariot, Simon's son. 27 And after the morsel, then the Adversary entered into him. Therefore Jesus says to that man, What you are doing, do quickly. 28 (Now no one of those reclining at the table knew for what purpose he spoke this to him. 29 For* some were thinking, since Judas had the box, that Jesus said to him, Buy what things we have need of *for the feast; or, in order that he should give something to the poor.) 30 Therefore, having received the morsel, that man went out immediately and it was night.
31 Therefore, when he went out, Jesus says, Now the Son of Man was glorified and God was glorified in him; 32 If God was glorified in him, God will also be glorifying him in himself and immediately he will be glorifying him. 33 Little-children, I am still with you* for a little while. You* will be seeking me and just-as I said to the Jews, Where I am going, you* are not able to come. Also now I am saying to you*, 34 I am giving to you* a new commandment, in order that you* should love* one another; just-as I loved* you*, in order that you* also should love* one another. 35 All men will know that you* are my disciples in this, if you* have love* among one another. 36 Simon Peter says to him, Lord, where are you going?
Jesus answered him, I am going where you are not able to follow now, but you will be following me later. 37 Peter says to him, Lord, why am I not able to follow you even now? I will lay down my life on your behalf.
38 Jesus answered him, Will you lay down your life on my behalf? Assuredly, assuredly, I am saying to you, The rooster may never* crow, until you will be denying me three-times.
